My research develops and applies NLP and machine learning methods across several interconnected areas:
Authorship Attribution & Privacy.
I work on both sides of the authorship problem, leveraging rhetorical and stylistic features to identify authors, and developing techniques that protect author identity. This dual focus addresses critical challenges in cybersecurity and digital privacy.
Agenda Detection & Political Communication.
I have led efforts in detecting actively promoted agendas in social media, including analysis of the 2022 French presidential elections. This work combines computational sociolinguistics with large-scale social media analytics to surface the strategies behind political communication.
Text Generation & Evaluation.
I develop generative models and the evaluation methodologies needed to rigorously assess their outputs, an increasingly important challenge as generative AI capabilities expand.
Information Diffusion & Sentiment Analysis.
Earlier work includes simulating diffusion processes in online social networks to study information spread, and advancing sentiment extraction methods with significant improvements in recall for target-level sentiment.
These projects have been sponsored by DARPA, IARPA, AFRL, and ONR. I publish in top NLP venues and have experience authoring competitive research grant proposals.
